Vintage Pin Up Girl Print

This pin-up art is a famous piece by the artist Earl Moran, titled "Call Again". It was created around 1946 and was used as an advertising calendar print by the company Brown & Bigelow.

Artwork Details

Artist: Earl Moran (1893–1984), a renowned American pin-up and glamour artist known for his use of pastels.

Title: "Call Again".

Medium and Date: The original work was a pastel on illustration board created circa 1946–1948.

Subject: The artwork features a pin-up model sitting on a bench or desk with a pale blue telephone, dressed in a white dress and pink high heels. The title is a witty play on words, combining the phone call with the suggestion to "call again" to see the model.

Model Connection: The model for this and many of Moran's other popular works from this period was a young woman named Norma Jeane Dougherty, who later became internationally famous as Marilyn Monroe. She posed for Moran for several years in the late 1940s, and his "Marilyn series" is considered his most valuable work.
