Vintage Film Movie Poster

This is a reproduction of a poster for the vintage Mickey Mouse animated short film "The Mad Dog", released on March 5, 1932.

Short Film Details

Plot: The cartoon centers on Mickey giving Pluto a bath, which Pluto resists. In the struggle, Pluto accidentally swallows a bar of soap, causing him to hiccup large soap bubbles. When he runs outside, an old woman mistakes the soap foam for a sign of rabies, triggering a town-wide panic and chase to put the "mad dog" down.

Characters: The film stars Mickey Mouse and Pluto, with Peg-Leg Pete appearing as the dog catcher who attempts to shoot Pluto.

Release Information: The short was produced by Walt Disney Productions and distributed by Columbia Pictures. It is noted for having a somewhat dark subject matter compared to later Disney cartoons, dealing with themes of rabies and mob mentality.
