Badia Vilató
DISPLAYING: 11" x 14" Fine Art Print
Mathieu was born in Boulogne-sur-Mer, and gained BADIA VILATO (1916-?) We know few things of Badia-Vilato, Spanish poster designer. During the civil war, he works for the CNT (National Confederation of Work) and the FAI (Iberian Anarchistic Federation). He works for the an aviation company and signs some of their more beautiful posters. He continues his engagement against pro-Franco repression and collaborates to the SIA (International Solidarity Antifascist) whose objective is to organize the international aid with Spain. At the end of the Fifties, he settles in South America where his trace is lost. The work Images de l'Espagne Franquiste, published in 1947 in Paris by the National alliance of the democratic forces of Spain, is representative of the anarchistic and anti pro-franco production of the Forties. On a text printed in three languages - Spanish, French and English - by the movie director Mateo Santos, Badia-Vilato shows virulent and colorful lithographies which point out his surrealist influence.
