Jacques Auriac
DISPLAYING: 11" x 14" Fine Art Print
He said of himself "I discovered this profession when I was fifteen years old between the feet of the Eiffel Tower upon entering the Advertising Pavilion at the International Exhibition of 1937. Coming out I was dazzled like Ali Baba by what I had just seen!".
His classical art training began at the Fine Art Institute at Bourges and later in Paris under the difficult circumstances of the war. He learned, however, mostly by observation and practice, and always defined himself as self-taught and independent.
He has designed many posters for public and private companies such as the SNCF (French Railways), the National Lottery, the P.T.T. (Postal Service), various airlines as well as for consumer products (Evian, Lipp, Bally, Gitanes...).
In spite of his artistic talent and renown, Jacques Auriac was a modest man, and always insisted on calling himself a tradesman.
