This print painted by artist Kerne Erickson, depicts bicycle riders leaving the Star Lane Vineyard property in the Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA. Located to the east of the town of Santa Ynez and within the much larger Santa Ynez Valley AVA, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA is the warmest of the entire sub AVAs in the Santa Ynez Valley. The north-south mountain ridge blocks the Pacific coastal breezes, preventing them from cooling the canyon. Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA has two soil conditions, alluvial soils at the lower elevations and shale and silty well-drained loam soil in the uplands.
Wineries in this AVA include: Crown Point Vineyards, Westerly Wines, Grassini Family Vineyards, Happy Canyon Vineyard, Star Lane Vineyard and Vogelzang Vineyard.
